We recruit 1-2 times a year, in the fall and/or spring semesters. Applications usually open early in the semester, with interviews and onboarding shortly after.
📚Do you recruit all class years?
Yes! We recruit both upperclassmen and freshmen, but on slightly different timelines — upperclassmen interviews and onboarding typically happen earlier in the process. You’re welcome to apply at any point during your time at Cornell. That said, not all recruit upperclassmen every cycle, depending on project needs and returning members, so some roles may be limited in certain semesters.
☕️ Do I need to/should I schedule a coffee chat?
Coffee chats are optional and have no effect on your application. They’re simply a chance to learn more or ask questions if we didn’t connect at an info session or recruiting event!
👥 What’s the team culture like?
Our team thrives on collaboration and friendship. Everyone works together, and we genuinely enjoy spending time as a team during socials. Think: real friendships, and teammates who always have your back!
🔄 Can I join without research/other experience?
Yes! Many of our members, particularly freshmen, join with no prior lab or engineering experience. We’ll teach you everything you need to know. What matters most is that you’re excited to learn and be part of the team.
🧪 Do I have to be an engineering major?
Nope! While many of us are in engineering, we welcome students from all majors and colleges at Cornell. Everyone brings something valuable to the table.
